FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Your Questions, Answered

HOW MUCH SHOULD I UNDRESS?

You should undress to your comfort level. About half of our clients prefer to be completely undressed, while the other half prefers to keep their undergarments on. This is completely up to you. You will undress and dress in the privacy of your treatment room and will be securely draped by a blanket and a sheet during your massage session.

Please be advised that myofascial release does require skin-to-skin contact. If it is medically indicated in order to treat your complaint, your therapist will obtain your permission before performing any work in the abdominal or pelvic area which might require closer contact than a typical massage session. You are always in control of your session and if at any time you feel uncomfortable, let your therapist know. They will always respect your boundaries.

DO YOU TREAT TERMINAL OR CHRONIC ILLNESS?

Terminal or chronic illness is complicated. You should always check with your primary health care provider regarding the safety of receiving treatment, and in some cases we may require a physician's note clearing you to receive massage. With that being said, massage therapy (especially myofascial release) can be a valuable part of a comprehensive treatment plan. It is uniquely situated to address conditions through its whole-body approach, which contrasts with a specialist approach of focusing on one body system at a time. Because fascia wraps around and connects every body system, treating fascia affects every body system.

WHAT TYPE OF MASSAGE SHOULD I CHOOSE?

If you're not sure what type of massage to get, the best thing to do is to talk to your therapist. You do not need to know what type of massage you want in order to book your appointment. Your session is completely customizable based on your goals and preferences. Want to relax? Your therapist might recommend a soothing Swedish massage. Want to get to the root of chronic pain and tension? Your therapist may recommend a series of myofascial treatments. Whatever your situation, our therapists will work with you to create a plan that's right for you.
